Department of Agriculture - Forest Service
TechTrend is currently engaged with the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service (USDA FS), providing advisory and implementation services. We work closely with the USDA FS management team to design and implement Lean Six Sigma processes in support of various lines of business, and we provide assistance with the design and implementation of the agency enterprise architecture and SOA standards. TechTrend has helped with Enterprise Architecture initiatives to meet OMB and FEA mandates. TechTrend members are also representing the Forest Service at a senior level to the USDA department in an initiative to design and implement Lean Six Sigma processes in various lines of business. In this effort TechTrend team members are serving key roles in department level Governance, Architecture, and Technology teams. These teams are also responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise level SOA standards and system architecture for USDA along with use of Business Process Management Systems, Rules Engines, Enterprise Service Buses, and other modern technology platforms. In addition, TechTrend is responsible for designing and maintaining several dozen mission critical applications for the USDA Forest service. For example, the TechTrend team specialized in the design, development, and deployment of Grants and Agreement modules, which helped USDA FS create a more scalable web-based environment as part of the agency’s business modernization effort.
Department of Defense – Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO)
The DTMO was established in February 2006 under the direction of the Management Initiative Decision 921. DTMO’s mission is to consolidate, streamline and centrally manage commercial travel for the Department of Defense. TechTrend is currently evolving the technology strategy by defining the enterprise architecture for this newly founded agency. We are also involved in the process of migrating and consolidating systems in support of this mission in order to meet the Federal Enterprise Architecture guidelines provided by OMB. This framework is designed to scale in order to address future growth as the mission expands.
Department of Defense – Office of the Secretary of Defense
TechTrend supports the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) by providing advisory services around the modernization of the DoD Information Technology Portfolio Repository (DITPR). Leveraging Net-Centric Enterprise Services and addressing scalability concerns are a significant part of this effort. TechTrend is also developing an extensible framework for on-ramping agency data feeds to DITPR, and for providing a standard framework to request data from other agencies. This solution will help the Department of Defense better manage IT investments across the organization.
Department of Homeland Security
TechTrend team members successfully designed, deployed, and maintained the Immigrant Tracking and Reporting System utilizing Oracle product suites for the United States Border Patrol. On this extended project, TechTrend team members served in a leadership role in defining and achieving process competencies around the Software Engineering Institutes – Capability Maturity Model Integration (SEI-CMMI) Level Two certification for the project. In addition, team members led the performance tiger team responsible for identifying and correcting performance bottlenecks in application, database, and communication areas.
Department of Justice
TechTrend team members were engaged by the Office of Litigation Support (OLS) to support all aspects of their IT needs which included design and implementation of the Master Acquisition & Processing System (MAPS). Likewise, we supported major migration efforts from legacy INQUIRE databases to Oracle Applications. In addition, TechTrend provided design and maintenance support in implementing document imaging and querying capabilities for DOJ legal cases and on-site IT trial support for US Attorneys in high profile cases.
