TechTrend has a history of building systems and applications that meet the Section 508 compliance standards for people with disabilities as well as developing solutions with broad technical compatibly. TechTrend has extensive experience developing applications with high accessibility. TechTrend has developed reports and dashboards to meet Section 508 compliance standards for USDA Forest Service and the Defense Travel Management Office. TechTrend has successfully delivered a variety of web-enabled applications that have passed 508 auditing. Some of the user interface features that will be used to ensure the application interfaces are 508 compliant may include:

  • TAB Components will be ordered properly so that if a key stroke is used to control it, it will TAB in the logical order defined by the business to enable a vision impaired user to operate the component
  • Alternative text will be supplied for all graphics and pictures to allow electronic screen readers to operate
  • Color combinations such as red/green and red/black will be avoided to support the color blind
  • Color will not be solely used to convey or to present information to support the color blind
  • All floating menus will offer text based alternatives to support the mobility impaired
  • All multimedia elements in the application will contain text alternatives to support the vision impaired
  • Audio will not be solely used to convey information so as to support the hearing impaired
